Lily was referred to MOSS at 34 weeks pregnant. At the time, she was living in a tent with no formal supports in place and a very limited informal support network. Lily expressed significant service fatigue and a lack of trust in support services due to her previous experiences. Through strong relationships across the sector, MOSS was able to advocate for Lily and support her to access women’s-only crisis accommodation. Given the urgency and complexity of Lily’s circumstances, extensive advocacy and collaboration with key services continued throughout her pregnancy.
The same week Lily gave birth to her son, Matthew, she was offered public housing. Through rapid, meaningful and consistent engagement, MOSS supported Lily and Matthew to transition into their new home. Lily and Matthew are now settled in their home, thriving and enjoying their lives together. For Lily, this represents a significant turning point. After a very long period of instability and homelessness, she finally has a safe and secure place to call her own.
