Bright Futures – Homeless Children’s Specialist Support Service

Bright Futures provides enhanced case management and group work responses to children whose families are being supported by a homelessness and/or family violence case manager in Melbourne’s North and West Metropolitan Regions.

about this program

The Youth and Family Program supports young people aged 16–25 who are experiencing homelessness, housing instability or at risk of homelessness, including young people experiencing family conflict or breakdown.

The Youth and Family Program provides short to medium-term case management, early intervention and family reconciliation support to young people experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.

The program offers:

  • Individualised case management and outreach support tailored to each young person's needs and goals.

  • Assistance to explore housing options and access or maintain stable accommodation.

  • Support to build independent living skills, confidence and personal wellbeing.

  • Family mediation and conferencing to address conflict and strengthen relationships.

  • Support to remain at or return home, or maintain family connections, where safe and appropriate.

  • Advocacy and referrals to community and specialist support services.

The Youth and Family Program provides outreach support across Melbourne's northern suburbs.

Referrals to the Youth and Family Program can be made through homelessness access points, schools, youth services and other community organisations. Young people can also refer themselves directly to the program.  You can find your nearest homelessness access point on the ++DFFH website++.
